Statesman (aka the Statesman's Apple) is a heritage apple from Malvern, Australia, grown from a pip by William Chandler in about 1858. It is stripey and has a refreshing tart flavour. It cooks very well and will last in a cool shed until spring. It is about the last apple picked in late May or early June. We used to have one tree, but a tractor backed over it, so we have only a branch. We have too few to sell (yet).
