An attractive, sweet and very juicy red apple with distinct freckles. It has a fruit salad taste. Some apples have extra juicy "pineapple" flesh when cut open. It is a chance seedling found in Napier, New Zealand in 1964. Splendour is the mother for several kiwi varieties such as Pacific Rose and Pacific Beauty. It is splendid eating and also dehydrates very well (with no need to peel it). We start picking it in late April.
